Abstract
A 56-yr-old housewife with cerebral astrocytoma was reported with posi tron emission tomography findings using C-11-methyl-L-methionine (C-11 -Met) and F-18-fluorophenylalanine (F-18-Phe) tracers. C-11-Met and F- 18-Phe accumulated intensely in tumor lesions, although CT scans showe d only a foggy low-density area. Five years and one month after, an en hancing mass appeared on CT scans. Thus, amino acid tracers may play a important role in the early diagnosis of gliomas. Copyright (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
