Abstract
Transmission electron microscopy investigations of deformation in film s of amorphous and semicrystalline isotactic polystyrene have shown cr azing to dominate up to the glass transition temperature, T(g), the cr aze fibrils becoming more crystalline as the strain rate is lowered an d the temperature raised. Above T(g) semicrystalline films show fibril lar shear.
