V. Pasagic et M. Popovic, METHOD FOR DETERMINING THE ATMOSPHERIC CORRECTION OF DATA MEASURED OVER THE SEA BY THERMOVISION CAMERA MOUNTED ON AN AIRCRAFT, International journal of remote sensing, 14(4), 1993, pp. 723-728
A set of field measurements of thermal anomalies on the sea surface wa
s carried out using an commercial infrared (IR) scanner (AGA 780 Therm
ovision) installed in a Dornier aircraft. One simple calibration metho
d for determining the atmospheric correction was developed. Thermovisi
on data, sea surface temperature and air temperature collected at mult
iple altitudes were used. The method is acceptable as long as there is
direct optical visibility of the sea surface and if the atmosphere in
the field of measurement is stationary during measurements.
