A double-arm spectrometer using a micro-channel plate and two large tw
o-dimensional PIN diode arrays was constructed to perform double-energ
y double-velocity (2E,2v) fission experiments with additional folding
angle information. An event-by-event data analysis method is described
. A method to determine simultaneously the pulse height defect and the
mass resolution of the spectrometer is developed. The spectrometer wa
s used in the study of U-235(n(th),f), Cf-252(sf) and antiproton induc
ed fission reactions. Mass, velocity and energy distributions of U-235
(n(th),f) and Cf-252(sf) are presented. The advantages of such a spect
rometer are discussed.
