Abstract
We have studied the b-quark tagging problem from Z0 decays as measured in the DELPHI experiment at LEP using artificial neural networks and conventional multivariate statistical methods. Contrary to the classic al approaches we used as input to the neural network very simple varia bles, closely related to the directly measured particle momenta. The r esults of the methods are compared and tested for possible complementa tion.
