Abstract
Although an increase in diastolic coronary flow velocity can be detect ed by transesophageal echocardiography 72 hours after both successful and unsuccessful left anterior coronary artery angioplasty, a signific ant improvement in coronary flow reserve is observed only in patients with a successful procedure. Transesophageal echocardiography-derived coronary flow reserve can identify early restenosis and thus serve as an index of the outcome of the procedure.
