Abstract
The cardiovascular effects of a combination of trandolapril and verapa mil were evaluated in 14 patients with mild to moderate essential hype rtension. This combination therapy decreased arterial pressure mainly through a decrease in total peripheral resistance without causing an i ncrease in heart rate or cardiac output: left ventricular mass was sig nificantly reduced, cardiac systolic function improved, and plasma vol ume and renal blood flow remained unchanged.
