Abstract
The project ''Immission-ecological study on the impact of fluorides on vegetation in the vicinity of fluoride emitters' was designed to inve stigate the accumulation of fluorides in separate compartments of fore st ecosystems near an aluminum factory in Upper Austria. The total acc umulation in selected ecosystems is contrasted with total atmospheric deposition during the emission period of about 50 years. A comparison of total deposition and total accumulation of fluorides indicates, tha t a large part of the fluoride deposited forms a long-term deposit in the soil and in surface humus and may lead there to disturbances in so il and humus dynamics.
