An outbreak of Salmonella typhimurium in veal calves is described. The
pattern of resistance to antibiotics was unique in the Netherlands at
the time of the outbreak. Other factors besides antibiotic resistance
also played a role in the outbreak resulting in a mortality exceeding
90%.
