Abstract
A procedure for finding a subharmonic functional of a solution for the problem Lu = Sigma(i=0)(n)(-1)(i)c(i) triangle(i)u = 0 in the domain E, which is either in a plane or on a line, is presented. The function al obtained is used to derive the maximum principles and uniqueness th eorems for some higher order elliptic problems. The procedure proposed is also applicable to nonlinear differential equations. (C) 1997 Acad emic Press.
