Rc. Sharma et U. Gupta, THERMAL-INSTABILITY OF COMPRESSIBLE FLUIDS WITH HALL CURRENTS AND SUSPENDED PARTICLES IN POROUS-MEDIUM, International journal of engineering science, 31(7), 1993, pp. 1053-1060
The thermal instability of compressible fluids in porous medium is con
sidered to include the effects of Hall currents and suspended particle
s. The dispersion relation has been obtained. For the stationary conve
ction, Hall currents and suspended particles are found to have destabi
lizing effects whereas compressibility and magnetic field have stabili
zing effects on the system. The medium permeability, however, has stab
ilizing and destabilizing effects on thermal instability in contrast t
o its destabilizing effect in the absence of magnetic field. The magne
tic field and Hall currents are found to introduce oscillatory modes i
n the system.
