Abstract
A pollen recognition tool, based upon the ARGUS image processing works tation, is being developed at Raster Ltd (Hungary). This tool is to be used for identifying and counting pollen in honey smears. These steps of the standard honey-qualification procedure are rather time-consumi ng and, if done by humans, are partially subjective. For the given app lication the ARGUS image processing system is equipped with and interf aced to a robot microscope. The requirements and the basic design conc epts of this pollen recognition tool are presented. Some aspects of th e methodology used are also discussed.
