B. Ancona et al., SUITABILITY OF ASTM TEST METHOD D-2369 FOR DETERMINATION OF VOC IN HIGH SOLIDS COATINGS, JCT, Journal of coatings technology, 65(820), 1993, pp. 45-50
The Technical Committee of the Philadelphia Society for Coatings Techn
ology conducted a ''round-robin'' study of ASTM D 2369-89, the method
used to determine volatile organic content (VOC) in coatings. Initiall
y seven laboratories undertook the testing of five coatings. Two of th
ese coatings were single component and the remaining three were two-co
mponent, high solids coatings. An analysis of variance was performed o
n the data obtained. The results indicated that the procedure can prod
uce reliable results, when single-component coatings are tested. Howev
er, data from two-component coatings yielded higher results than expec
ted with large standard deviations.
