Tap. Roeling et al., A NEW MICROCANNULA FOR INJECTIONS IN RAT BRAINS WITHOUT DISTURBING SOCIAL INTERACTIONS, Physiology & behavior, 53(5), 1993, pp. 1007-1009
A new cannula system is presented that allows intracerebral microinjec
tions of neuroactive substances in freely moving rats in a social envi
ronment. By connecting a microcannula to a freely rotating stainless s
teel spring, small (0.2 mul) injections can be made without disturbing
the ongoing social interaction. This microinjection system can be use
d for instantaneous injections, but can also be used for microinfusion
s during a considerable longer period of time.
