A. Boyer et al., BASIC-LANGUAGE SOFTWARE FOR SIMULTANEOUS MONITORING OF BLOOD-GLUCOSE LEVEL AND NEURONAL FIRING FREQUENCY, Physiology & behavior, 53(5), 1993, pp. 1021-1023
We have designed software for an Apple II GS microcomputer allowing si
multaneous on-line monitoring of blood glucose level and neuronal firi
ng frequency in experimental rats. Mood glucose level in the carotid b
lood was continuously measured by a glucose analyzer and digitized thr
ough an A/D board. The firing rate of a brain neuron, recorded by a cl
assical technique, was counted by a versatile interface adapter. Both
parameters are graphically displayed on the screen. They can also be e
xported to another computer for off-line analysis. This software is ad
aptable to other experimental applications in electrophysiology, invol
ving the monitoring of glycemia or other biological parameters.
