Sam. Ali et Dj. Hourston, PHYSICAL STUDIES OF IONICALLY TERMINATED POLYTETRAHYDROFURAN POLYMERS.4. SOLID-STATE STUDIES, Journal of applied polymer science, 48(11), 1993, pp. 1915-1922
The object of this work was to investigate the effect of the introduct
ion of pyridinium chain-ends in polytetrahydrofuran (PTHF) polymers on
certain solid-state properties. A comparison of solid-state propertie
s of methoxy-terminated (PTHF-OMe) with pyridinium bromide-terminated
(PTHF-Py) polytetrahydrofuran polymers of virtually identical molecula
r weights was made. Crystallization studies and dynamic mechanical and
stress-strain analyses have been undertaken. It was concluded that th
e introduction of the ionic pyridinium bromide groups to the PTHF poly
mers influenced the degree of crystallinity and this, in turn, affecte
d other physical properties.
