Abstract
A trinuclear complex derived from titanocene chloride and magnesium br omide is an efficient catalyst for the pinacol coupling of aromatic al dehydes; the 1,2-diols are obtained with good diastereoselectivity and a wide variety of sensitive functional groups are tolerated.
