2-Ethyl-2-oxazoline (ETOX) as a nucleophilic monomer and beta-methylhy
drogenitaconate (MHI) as electrophilic monomer were copolymerized in s
olution in the absence of initiator at various feed mole ratios. Copol
ymers were characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR and H-1 NMR spec
troscopy. The copolymer composition was determined by elemental analys
is and by H-1 NMR spectroscopy. The copolymerization reaction occurs w
ith a termination reaction which is evidenced by the end double bond a
t the H-1 NMR spectra.
