Mev. Costa et Jl. Baptista, CHARACTERISTICS OF ZINC-OXIDE POWDERS PRECIPITATED IN THE PRESENCE OFALCOHOLS AND AMINES, Journal of the European Ceramic Society, 11(4), 1993, pp. 275-281
Zinc oxide powders have been prepared by adding acidic ZnCl2 solutions
to NaOH solutions containing alcohol or amines. The physical characte
ristics of the powders (particle size and morphology) are conditioned
by the presence of the organic molecules. These effects are related to
particular growth mechanisms involving an active role of the organic
additives. The presence of agglomeration in the powders obtained allow
s the obtention of low density samples with open porosity suitable for
use as atmospheric sensors.
