Abstract
The title complex nebis(salicylideneiminato)](iso-butyl)-cobalt(III) [ C4iH9Co(salen)(py)] has been synthesized and characterized and its cry stal structure has been determined by X-ray diffraction methods. The c rystal consists of discrete molecules with distorted octahedral stereo chemistry around the cobalt(III) ion. The tetradentate ''salen'' ligan d is in the equatorial plane and C4iH9 and pyridine occupy the two axi al positions. The lengths of axial Co-C and Co-N bonds are 2.003(4) an d 2.184(3) angstrom, respectively.
