Abstract
Chalcone synthase (CHS) genes specifically expressed in petals of two cotton species (Gossipium hirsutum 108F and Gossypium herbaceum) were identified by reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction of total petal RNA. The same gene was found to be expressed in the petals of b oth species.
