T. Crisippi et al., GAS-CHROMATOGRAPHIC DETERMINATION OF BENALAXYL RESIDUES IN DIFFERENT CROPS AND WATER, Journal of AOAC International, 76(3), 1993, pp. 650-656
A gas chromatographic method is described that is suitable for the det
ermination of benalaxyl residues ranging from 10 to 0.1 mug/kg in seve
ral crops, must, wine, and water. The compound is extracted with aceto
ne and purified either by partitioning between water and n-hexane or b
y passing the extract through an Extrelut column with n-hexane. Furthe
r purification is achieved by column chromatography on alumina. The ac
tive ingredient is finally determined by gas chromatography with nitro
gen-phosphorus detection. Mean recoveries were greater-than-or-equal 9
5% in the various crops tested and in the 0.01-1.05 mg/kg fortificatio
n range. Standard deviations for each crop were less-than-or-equal-to
6.5%.
