Ms. Nayak et al., TRANSFORMED CLUSTER-ANALYSIS - AN APPROACH TO THE IDENTIFICATION OF GASES ODORS USING AND INTEGRATED GAS-SENSOR ARRAY, Sensors and actuators. B, Chemical, 12(2), 1993, pp. 103-110
This paper deals with 'transformed cluster analysis', which can be use
d to analyse gas-sensor responses for the identification of individual
gases/odours present in the ambient. The computational strategy for t
he analyses consists of transformation of data, graphical representati
on, formulation of the classification method, interpretation of result
s and quantification. The unknown gas/odour may be classified into fiv
e different probability groups according to the transformed responses
obtained, i.e., real object, apparent object, probable object, doubt o
bject and atypical object. This method also helps to evaluate the effe
ct of dopants. The method is illustrated here with experimental data o
btained in the laboratory. It is predicted that the technique can succ
essfully be used for application-specific gas sensors.
