Abstract
D.c. SQUIDS for liquid nitrogen operation are implemented with grain b oundary Josephson junctions in off-axis sputtered Y1Ba2Cu3Ox stripes a t step edges in NdGaO3 substrates. The special properties of the Josep hson junctions due to the excellent lattice match between the orthorho mbic substrate and the YBCO stripes are described. The SQUID has a flu x modulation up to temperatures very close to the critical temperature of the YBCO stripes beyond the edge. At 77 K the maximum. slope is dU /dPHI = 80 muV PHI0(-1) and the product of the critical current times the tunnel resistance is I(C)R(N) almost-equal-to 40 muV.
