Potential scattering of electrons in a bichromatic laser field is cons
idered. The field will either have frequencies omega and 2omega or fre
quencies omega and 3omega. In both cases the two components will be ou
t of phase by an angle f. As a function of f the electron scattering s
pectra will be very different for the two cases. If we have omega and
2omega, the electron spectra may show pronounced asymmetries for parti
cular values of f whereas for omega and 3omega, the spectra will be sy
mmetric, but, for a particular f the central peak of the electron spec
trum may be strongly suppressed. For presently available experimental
facilities such effects should become observable.
