Abstract
Cyclic voltammetry has been used to characterize the redox system Ti4/Ti3+ inside the channels of the titanosilicalite TS-1. Ti4+ ions, whi ch are believed to be incorporated in the zeolite framework, can easil y be reduced and oxidized. The charge imbalance resulting from the red uction of Ti4+ to Ti3+ is compensated by the electrolyte cations migra ting through the porous structure of the material. The intensity of th e electrochemical current is proportional to the fraction of titanium atoms substituting silicon atoms in the lattice.
