The rate of concentration equilibrium settling in the gravity field is
studied for a suspension of magnetic particles. In the absence of an
external magnetic field the relaxation time taking into account the co
ntributions from both diffusion and dynamic sedimentation modes is eva
luated. The dependence of this quantity upon the suspended particle si
ze turns out to be non-monotonic with distinctive maximum lying exactl
y in the size range = 100 angstrom which is characteristic to magnetic
colloids.
