Abstract
We analyse the large-N limit of a matrix model with quartic self-inter action and external scalar field, by the technique of orthogonal polyn omials. The rise of a <<spontaneous magnetization>> is studied and com pared with the previous known results, based on saddle point integrati on or Schwinger-Dyson equations.
