Capillary electrophoresis (CE) was evaluated as a means of analyzing t
he homogeneity of synthetic malaria vaccines consisting of multiple-an
tigenic-peptides (MAPs). The MAPs consist of a branching oligomeric ly
sine core (Lys(n), n = 3, 7, 15, ...) with antigenic peptides coupled
to each of the alpha-amino and epsilon-amino arms (n + 1 peptides tota
l). In this report we compare CE with reversed-phase and size-exclusio
n liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC and SE-HPLC) for the analysis of Lys3
MAPs corresponding to B-cell and T-cell epitopes of the circumsporozo
ite protein of the Plasmodium falciparum malaria parasite.
