We solve the spontaneous and induced emission problem for an atom coup
led to a ring cavity, taking into account the center-of-mass motion. W
e solve analytically the non-Hermitian Schrodinger equation Tor the sp
ontaneous emission. Then we use this solution to test our quantum Mont
e Carlo solution for the induced processes. The coherence of atomic ce
nter-of-mass wave function combined with a well-defined phase of the f
ield produces noteworthy interference phenomena. They may be understoo
d with the help of the semiclassical solution.
