This paper describes the two-year process of group therapy in a geriat
ric population of WWII ex-prisoners-of-war. Therapeutic conduct and co
ntent are considered, including themes of grief, trust, mortality, and
socialization. Changes in self-esteem and social interaction may he a
chieved through a group environment that fosters cognitive reorganizat
ion and social reintegration.
