D. Venkatesulu et al., EXCESS VOLUMES AND VISCOSITIES OF BINARY-MIXTURES OF TRICHLOROETHYLENE WITH BRANCHED ALCOHOLS, Fluid phase equilibria, 128(1-2), 1997, pp. 241-248
Excess volumes (V-E) and viscosities (eta) of binary liquid mixtures o
f trichloroethylene with branched alcohols have been measured as a fun
ction of composition at 303.15 K. The branched alcohols include 2-prop
anol, 2-methyl-1-propanol, 3-methyl-1-butanol, 2-butanol and 2-methyl-
2-propanol. Further, the deviation in viscosities (Delta ln eta) have
been computed from viscosity data. The V-E values are positive in mixt
ures of trichloroethylene with 2-propanol, 2-butanol, 2-methyl-2-propa
nol and an inversion of sign from negative to positive is observed in
the mixtures of trichloroethylene with 2-methyl-1-propanol and 3-methy
l-1-butanol. The values of Delta ln eta are negative in all the mixtur
es except at lower mole fraction of trichloroethylene in the system tr
ichloroethylene with 3-methyl-1-butanol.
