Abstract
This paper examines the effects of a case management intervention, con sisting of interagency consultation, oil employment of Social Security disability applicants and beneficiaries with mental illness. One hund red fifty-two adults, recruiter primarily from community mental health centers, were randomly assigned to the experimental or control group. The experimental group received employment-oriented case management f rom rehabilitation specialists. The control group received routine men tal health center services. Experimental clients who participated at l east minimally with the intervention had a higher probability of getti ng a job than did control clients. Controls and experimentals did not differ on number of hours worked, wages, or job duration.
