Abstract
Three new diterpenoids, thuridillins A-C (1-3), have been isolated fro m the marine mollusk Thuridilla hopei. All metabolites are characteriz ed by an unusual alpha,beta-epoxy-delta-lactone partial structure. The origin from an unidentified alga and an ecological role linked to the defence of the aconchoid ascoglossan are suggested for thuridillins o n the basis of their structural features.
