Abstract
The Buliminella-concept, not borne out by its type species, is here re covered by the new genus Eubuliminella. The characteristic features of Eubuliminella include a well-defined Turrilina-like toothplate and th e presence of a half-open cristate lip at the peripheral side of the a perture. Bulimina elegans var. exilis Brady, 1884 is designated as typ e species. The Buliminella species possessing these features are remov ed from Buliminella and revised and reclassified in Eubuliminella. The genus Buliminellita Cushman and Stainforth, 1947 is retained separate ly despite its very close affinities with Eubuliminella. It can be dis tinguished from the latter by the presence of a neck on the last chamb er and by the shorter, more stout internal toothplate. The genus is re vised to include a number of former Buliminella species. The systemati cs of the Turrilinidae is reanalysed in the light of the revision.
