Hs. Randhawa et al., SPECTROSCOPIC STUDIES SF MOLECULAR INTERACTION OF 2-THIOURACIL AND DITHIOURACIL DONORS WITH 7,7,8,8-TETRACYANOQUINODIMETHANE AS AN ELECTRON-ACCEPTOR, Indian journal of chemistry. Sect. A: Inorganic, physical, theoretical & analytical, 36(1), 1997, pp. 68-71
The electronic absorption and electron spin resonance studies on the i
nteraction of thiouracil and dithiouracil as donors with 7,7,8,8-tetra
cyanoquinodimethane (TCNQ) as an acceptor reveal that the absorption b
ands in these systems are not due to the charge transfer complex but a
re due to the formation of products (free radical in nature). The equi
librium constants, K, for the D-A systems as determined from the Benes
i Hildebrand model follow the direct trend of pK(H) of the donors and
K(dithiouracil) >. K(thiouracil).
