Abstract
Early detection of colon cancer is imperative for a good prognosis. Fa mily physicians are therefore becoming the front line of defense in th e fight against colorectal malignancy. Many family physicians are inco rporating colonoscopy into their practices in an attempt to avoid cost ly referrals and loss of continuity of care. While the complication ra te for colonoscopy is extremely low, any physician who performs colono scopy must be fully aware of all possible complications and their mana gement.
