Abstract
The Letter investigates the performance of direct-detection optical co de division multiple access (CDMA) systems which employ avalanche phot odiode (APD) detectors. In particular, an accurate and extremely compu tationally efficient importance sampling method for estimating the pro bability of bit error of such systems is presented.
