Abstract
The present paper deals with the coupled thermostructural analysis of laminated composite beams using FEM. The finite element formulation in volves the use of a three-noded isoparametric beam element. The first- order shear deformation is also accounted for. Heat transfer modes of convection and boundary heat fluxes are used in the present analysis. Solution to the equations are obtained through the Newmark direct inte gration scheme. Results are presented for steady, uncoupled and couple d analysis to show the effects of laminae stacking sequences and struc tural boundary conditions. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
