Abstract
The equilibrium between graphite and C6(g) has been investigated by Kn udsen effusion mass spectrometry at temperatures between 2630 and 2810 K. Together with thermal functions calculated from experimental and t heoretical molecular parameters for the linear cumulenic structure, th e third law enthalpy of formation, DELTAH(f,0) = 1312 +/- 18 kJ mol-1 and the atomization energy DELTAH(a,0) = 2955 +/- 20 kJ mol-1, have be en obtained.
