Vi. Silin et al., APPLICATION OF SURFACE ELECTROMAGNETIC-WAVE AND SURFACE-PLASMON TECHNIQUES IN A PROTEIN ADSORPTION STUDY AND SENSOR CONSTRUCTION, Vibrational spectroscopy, 5(1), 1993, pp. 133-142
Protein adsorption on aluminium, copper and modified silver film surfa
ces was investigated by surface electromagnetic wave (SEW) and surface
plasmon (SP) techniques. The application of SEW and SP methods in mod
elling and real systems (human blood serum) is considered for immuno-t
ype biosensor construction. The influence of surface roughness and mul
ti-layer formation technology on the sensitivity of these methods is d
iscussed. An experimental sensitivity of 5 x 10(-6) Mg ml-1 ferritin i
n a real system was obtained with an SP-based biosensor.
