P. Grammatico et al., THE 1ST CYTOGENETIC STUDY OF A SARCOMATOID RENAL-CELL CARCINOMA, Journal of experimental & clinical cancer research, 12(1), 1993, pp. 19-21
Sarcomatoid renal carcinoma (SRC) is a neoplasm recently defined and u
ntil now not well identified in order to consider it a sarcomatoid com
ponent. The very low frequence and its high malignancy induced the aut
hors to present the data of the first cytogenetic study conducted on m
etastatic cells obtained from pleuric effusion in a patient admitted t
o the hospital for intrapulmonary nodular lesion. The results demonstr
ate the involvement of chromosomes 1, 5, 16, 19 and the authors discus
s the issues related to other malignant forms of the urinary tract.
