A. Carnicer et al., DESIGN OF INVERSE FILTER FOR PATTERN-RECOGNITION - ANALYSIS OF THE PERFORMANCE OF AN AMPLITUDE-COMPENSATED MATCHED-FILTER, J. mod. opt., 40(3), 1993, pp. 391-400
The aim of this paper is to study the performance of an amplitude comp
ensated matched filter as an optimization of the inverse filter. Analy
sis by digital simulation of signal-to-noise ratio, discrimination and
optical efficiency has been carried out using both binary and grey-le
vel images in absence of noise. Subsequently, the scenes were immersed
in real background. Amplitude compensated matched filter behaviour ha
s been compared with matched filter, phase-only filter and inverse fil
ter, showing its capabilities and limitations.
