Ys. Protasov et al., TURBULENT MODIFICATION AND THE TRANSPORT-PROPERTIES OF PLASMA-DYNAMICDISCHARGES IN THE VACUUM ULTRAVIOLET, High temperature, 30(2), 1992, pp. 181-187
A method is proposed for absolute measurement of high-power (> 10(6) W
/cm2) fluxes of vacuum ultraviolet radiation (hv almost-equal-to 10-10
0 eV) based on determining the speed of equilibrium ionization waves i
n a mixture of gases. It is confirmed directly that turbulent modifica
tion of the plasma-gas boundary greatly eases the escape of vacuum ult
raviolet radiation from the plasma. The measured power of the radiatio
n fluxes from open plasma-dynamic magnetoplasma compressor discharges
with moderate input energies (< 10 kJ) is as high as 10(7) W/cm2, whic
h is comparable to the fluxes obtained in explosion-driven experiments
