Abstract
The intrinsic small signal frequency response of 1.6 mum compressive-s trained quantum well lasers is measured at various cavity lengths. The highest 3 dB bandwidth reached is approximately 18 GHz. Cavity length dependence on the K factor is investigated. It was found that the opt imal condition for obtaining the highest possible K-limited bandwidth is the same as that for obtaining the highest relaxation oscillation f requency for a given optical power.
