Abstract
A dichotic test of monosyllabic CV syllables was administered three ti mes to 56 male right handers and 50 male left handers. During each exp erimental session the subjects had to perform this dichotic test using a different response condition. On one occasion they were required to verbally report the perceived syllables (speak condition), on another occasion they were asked to write down the syllables they had heard ( write condition), and lastly, they were asked to visually recognize th e stimuli (visual condition) which were presented onto a monitor scree n. The aim of the experiment was to check whether the dichotic test re sults differ with respect to the required response condition. It was f ound that ear advantage scores were not influenced by the response con dition.
