Abstract
The review describes the properties of detector materials used in the electron-photon calorimetry: scintillators, Cherenkov radiators and ap propriate light detectors, and dielectrics for ionization chambers. Th e physical parameters (density, radiation length, Molier radius, etc.) of the active media of the calorimeters are presented. Scintillator c haracteristics (emission spectrum, light yield, luminescence decay tim e, etc.) are discussed, as well as temperature and radiation effects.
