Jjm. Orfao et Jl. Figueiredo, SIMULATION OF DYNAMIC THERMOGRAVIMETRIC CURVES - SINGLE AND COMPLEX-REACTIONS, Thermochimica acta, 217, 1993, pp. 151-173
Dynamic thermogravimetry is a technique widely used to study the kinet
ics of reactions involving solids. In this work, the fundamental prope
rties which determine the shape and position of the TG and DTG curves
are defined, namely the kinetic function and two dimensionless paramet
ers gamma = E/RT0 and beta = AT0/b. The methodology used is extended t
o the case of complex reactions (competitive, consecutive and independ
ent), referring to situations which may occur in practice and showing
illustrative simulations. The pyrolysis of lignocellulosic materials i
s taken as an example, using data previously published.
