STUDIES ON RARE-EARTH COMPLEXES WITH CROWN ETHERS-XXIII - SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF THE COMPLEXES OF RARE-EARTH ISOTHIOCYANATES WITH DICYCLOHEXYL-24-CROWN-8

Some complexes of rare earth isothiocyanates with dicyclohexyl-24-crow n-8(DCH24C8) have been prepared using anhydrous tetrahydrofuran as rea ction medium. These new complexes with the general formula RE(NCS)3.DC H24C8.nH2O (RE=La(III), Ce(III), Pr(III), Nd(III), Sm(III), Eu(III), G d(III), Tb(III), Dy(III), Ho(III), Er(III), Lu(III) and Y(III); n = 1, 2,3) have been characterized by elemental analyses, IR spectra, conduc tivity measurements, thermogravimetry and differential thermal analysi s (TG-DTA) techniques.In the complexes the ligand DCH24C8 and isothioc yanate groups are coordinated to the metal ions, while the water molec ules are not coordinated to the metal ions.
