The ligninolytic fungus Phlebia radiata growing in a low-nitrogen medi
um with wheat bran as the sole carbon source was induced by some ligni
n monomers, e.g. vanillic, veratric and ferulic acids. In the medium t
hese substances showed a mainly stimulating influence on the hemicellu
lolytic enzymes activity except for arabinofuranosidase and ferulic ac
id esterase.
